Trying out...6 piece Discover Laura Geller Collection from QVC

I couldn’t resist the chance to see what this foundation was like and have taken this handy little set of travel sized make up essentials with me on my various family celebrations this month…..to compliments such as ‘You look really well’ to ‘Your skin looks glowing’ to ‘I thought work was hard; it clearly suits you!’

It really was all down to the make up.

The Baked Balance n Brighten Colour Correcting Foundation is so good I put it on with the makeup brush, out of a bag in the boot of my car, no mirror, and immediately my mum wanted to know all about it. That was how awful I looked before and how much better I looked with it. Everybody has been asking me about what I’ve been using and I will certainly be keeping this as my travel secret. The baked cream to powder formula really is ‘goof proof’ and lasts well with decent coverage and a lovely tone (without looking like heavy makeup).

Also making my ‘I can’t believe I lived with anything else’ list is the i-care Waterproof Eyeliner in black. This glides on so easily, and the automatic pen design means that you don’t need a sharpener (never to hand for me). The smudging end makes it easy to transform sleek lines into a smoky eye look that blends really easily with eye shadow.

The other star turn is the cosmetic bag itself. Rose gold and peachy tones with a soft leather feel. It doubles up so well as an evening clutch and is darling. Perfect for summer evenings.

Baked Colour True Blush in ‘Bali’ adds to the overall effect and healthy complexion – perfect colour shade for me. The brush that comes with the set is not really ideal for this as it too small and/or hard (leaving lots of dusty powder around). Trying to apply with this did make me wonder how rosy my cheeks really were *conjuring images of Bridget Jones arriving at the Law Society dinner*.

The mini GlamLASH Dramatic Volumising Mascara thickens and lengthens…basically does the job but nothing as wonderful as the eyeliner and foundation.

Though I wasn’t overly sure about the colour of the Italian Marble Lipstick in ‘Strawberry Toffee’ (with its pink and gold swirls) I am slowly being won over. It does come out with a colour coverage and metallic sheen that suits bronzed summer looks, and isn’t too strong but is less subtle than the look I usually go for.

What this set is really missing is an eyeshadow that will match the rose gold tones that the collection creates. I supplemented with Clinique Colour Surge Eye Shadow Duo 101 Sunburst but would have loved to try a Laura Geller shadow out. Mainly to see whether the coverage and velvety feel of the other products also applies, but also so that the summer travel set could be complete….so much neater.

In summary – easily a 9 out of 10. Definitely worth a go if you fancy trying out Laura Geller Balance n Brighten without committing to a full size first time (QVC also have a 30 day money back guarantee even if you have tried it and don’t like it…win win). I will be taking this everywhere with me this summer and looking out for matching eyeshadows to go with it.
